Usage Instructions

Pavetuf Jointing Compound Precautions

  • Amongst the wide selection of paving available some natural stone materials can be particularly susceptible to staining. These include Sandstone, Limestone, Polished Stone and other porous grades. If you follow the recommended instructions on how to use Pavetuf Jointing Compound, this will reduce the potential for staining to occur.

  • Pavetuf Jointing Compound, like most external materials, will age with time due to natural weathering and site exposure conditions. A natural discolouration over time can, therefore, be expected depending on the site conditions, weathering, constant drainage of dirty rainwater and the level of cleaning maintenance offered to the paved area.

  • Pavetuf Jointing Compound is manufactured from natural aggregate materials, therefore, it should always be attempted to use the product from the same batch and manufacturing date or those in close proximity to get the best colour consistency.

  • Always ensure joints are filled to their full depth to provide good solid grouting. Poorly filled or bridged joints will result in failed installations.

Preparation

Before starting please ensure that the area to be jointed can be drained of water and that the mortar bed on which the paving site needs to be a porous mix of sand and cement. Pavetuf Jointing Compound is suitable for use with most paving types, apart from block paving, however, some paving can be prone to staining. Before applying, test a small area first to ensure your paving does not discolour. For more information on preparing your paving for Pavetuf Jointing Compound, please visit Pavetuf.co.uk. 7 Easy Steps to Great-Looking Paving

  1. Thoroughly pre-soak the area before application. The more water used the better the result.
  2. Pour Pavetuf Jointing Compound evenly across your newly laid paving. Top Tip: To help stop staining thoroughly soak the Compound in the tub before putting on the paving.
  3. Using a stiff broom, brush the compound into the joints ensuring they are completely filled.
  4. Ensure that the surface of the paving and the compound are kept wet during application.
  5. Repeat step 3 until all joints have been filled.
  6. Top up any joints that haven't been filled properly and wash off the excess Compound from the surface using a watering can or hosepipe with low pressure.
  7. As the application involves water it needs to be applied in temperatures of 4 degrees and above.

Top Tips:

  • The more water added, the easier it is to move the Compound and fill the joints.

  • Why not add water to the tub, along with the dry Compound before pouring the compound onto the paving?

  • If you are using a Compound from a tub that has been opened previously and soaked in water to preserve it, when you come to use this with new tubs of jointing Compound, you should mix the open tub with a new tub before application to avoid colour batching.

Important: Please note that staining can occur on the paving, especially near the joints, if it is not kept soaking wet throughout the application process, and if any surplus Jointing Compound is not removed from the surface of the paving.

Curing

Curing in warm dry conditions will take approximately 18-24 hours. In cooler weather curing can take up to 72 hours. Do not allow Pavetuf Compound to dry on the surface of the paving. We recommend you then seal your paved area with a Pavetuf sealer.

Storage

Any unused product can be kept in the tub just add sufficient water to cover the surface of the remaining product. Store in a cool, dry and frost-free area at temperatures between 50c and 300c. Pour off excess water before reuse. Be sure to use within 2 years of the date shown on the tub.

Coverage

A 15kg bucket will cover approx. 7m2 of paving (based on 450x450mm slabs with 25x8mm joint width). A Natural Paving 600 Series 15.25m2 Project Pack will require approx. 2 tubs of Pavetuf Jointing Compound.

Our standard method of delivery for heavy items is using the pallet delivery network. The delivery will arrive on a lorry with an electric tailift and a hand pump truck.

Access must be made for a lorry (up to 32ft) otherwise additional delivery charges may be payable. You must advise us of any restrictions that will impede the delivery vehicles from delivering the Products. The Products will be delivered to the kerbside outside. Our couriers are not insured to take goods onto your premises without permission. If you require the driver to come onto your property (at their discretion and deemed safe) with the wagon, the Products, or both, this is entirely at your own risk and if the driver or wagon damages anything (including but not limited to, manhole covers, tarmac driveways, block paved drives, flagged driveways / graveled or stoned driveways, grassed areas, walls, pillars, gate posts, gates, trees, hedges, telephone wires, lights) the cost of repair will be your responsibility.

Ensure that the delivery area is flat and solid enough to take the weight of a pallet truck carrying up to 1000kg in weight. Please note Gravel and Grass are not classed as solid and flat. If the delivery area is not flat the driver will require help in getting the pallets off the vehicle. If help cannot be given there will be a redelivery charge to deliver at a time when help can be given. If you live on a hill you will need to call us before you order to find out if our delivery company can deliver to your address. This is for health and safety reasons, usually the easiest method of getting around this is for the order to be delivered to the nearest flat ground. It will be your responsibility to move the goods to your property. Deliveries via hiab or moffet can be arranged but at an additional cost, click for further details.

Smaller items will be delivered via a parcel courier.

All delivery methods will require someone to accept the delivery, check it over and sign that they have been received in good condition. Please note any damages on the delivery sheet / electronic device, do not use the product and contact us straight away.

Next day, AM/PM or even Saturday deliveries can be arranged at an extra cost. Please add your items to the shopping cart for an instant quote.

Pallet Deliveries

After your order has been dispatched you will be contacted on the phone (within 3 days), by your local pallet delivery company in your area, once they receive the goods from our local depot, to book-in a day that is convenient for you. (this will not occur on Timed, Next Day & Saturday deliveries)

Parcel Deliveries

After your order has been dispatched you will receive your goods within 2-3 days. No telephone book-in will occur.

Remember when handling your goods:

  • Take care when removing the packaging / banding and also when removing the product out of the crate / pallet as they may have weakened during transit and could be unstable.
  • The product is quite heavy, and some larger products can weigh a lot. Consider this when arranging the delivery, as you may need appropriate lifting equipment, or an extra pair of hands.
