Over the last few years paving jointing compound has become more and more of a necessity. In tandem with this, we’ve seen the industry develop and construct new products to ensure the safety of your patio throughout the year. Advances have been made with products such as patio grout and patio pointing mixes to ensure that your paving has a healthy appearance at all times. We pride ourselves on stocking products such as the Rompox paving gout range from Romex, allowing our customers to receive the highest standard of quality available on the market. One example of this is our Rompox Easy pointing mortar, which aids a healthy patio through weed and abrasion resistance, as well as other benefits.
With high-quality patio grout, you can provide the protection necessary to prevent an issue such as cracking during the freezing temperatures of winter. Having such a product should also save you time during the initial laying process of the patio. Paving slab grout should be a product and material supplement that’s built and set to last, and this is what we aim to provide through our excellent range of paving grout solutions.
Over the years and in the past, paving slabs of all sizes were joined through methods that encompassed sand and cement. With this in mind, cracking was always likely as the water in the mixture could expand in the event of freezing temperatures, meaning that otherwise perfectly good slabs were ruined by something such as substandard patio pointing mix. This made the practice of patio pointing almost pointless as issues would only happen again. Now though, thanks to advances in the industry this hard work no longer goes to waste!

What is Jointing Compound?
Jointing Compound is a type of patio grout that is a perfect option for outdoor tiles. This patio grout can be easily applied to both existing flooring and when installing a new project. It is fast setting and cuts out the hassle of regular grouting that requires pre-mixing as well as being very durable so it will not crack over time.
How to Use Jointing Compound
Cover the area with water
Resin-based patio grouts such as Rompox or Jointex set when they dry out so it's important to completely saturate the area that needs grouting to ensure the grouting doesn't set too early. Using a hosepipe can ensure the area is fully soaked then simply distribute the water using a yard brush.
Spread your grouting over the patio and brush into the joints
The use of good-quality groutings such as Jointex or Rompox will make this process much easier. As the floor is already wet, you can spread the product over the patio and use a brush to distribute the grouting into the joints. Take your time and ensure each joint is filled with the jointing compound as this will give the best protection from cracking down the line.
Strike the compound into the joints
Once all your joints are filled sweep away any excess, this is to prevent it from setting on the paving slabs as it can be tricky to remove once it has been set. Next, strike it in. we recommend a metal tool to ensure the product is firmly pressed into the gaps and there are no spaces.
Completely Remove excess
It’s now time to sweep up the excess. most jointing compounds can be kept for future use, so if you stick it back in the tub and fill it with water it should store for your next product.
Enjoy your fully grouted patio!
